Teenage Anxiety  and Depression
 Anxiety in Children

Teenagers are reported to be experiencing stress at astoundingly high levels, this increasing stress may result in anger, anxiety and depression as well as lowering self esteem and self confidence. It is possible that anxiety, low self esteem and depression will affect the school performance of teenagers by disrupting their thinking and impacting on their learning.

Hypnosis, Mindfulness and CBT are recognized as valid therapeutic interventions for a variety of problems faced by teenagers. Interest and usage of mindfulness based interventions for helping teenagers cope with anxiety and depression is growing. There is a need to help teenagers with a practical yet simple means of combating stress, anxiety, and the pressures that they are facing. Mindfulness based strategies along with hypnosis can empower teenagers, supporting them in dealing with the difficulties they are facing in a non-threatening, easy to understand and powerfully effective way.

Research suggests that mindfulness training for teenage anxiety and depression can reduce stress significantly, improve self-confidence, relationships with others, attention, optimism, and self esteem. Other studies have also suggested that mindfulness based approaches may be also suitable for behaviour problems as well as teenage anxiety and depression. Mindfulness may enhance school performance, cognitive and academic performance.  This type of approach appeals to teenagers because they are self management techniques, empowering teenagers to take control of the way they are feeling. Simple but so easy to implement and my experience suggests that teenagers find the method easier to grasp than CBT alone.

As an approved consultant Hypnotherapist I have a current DBS certificate for your peace of mind and I am also a member of the Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health.
